In Perfect Symmetry – UWS Terrace

UWS Terrace

The owners of this terrace garden on Manhattan’s Upper West Side called us because they were unhappy with the cluttered feel of their terrace.  They had inherited a mishmash of different plants and planters that didn’t really go well together, looked old-fashioned, and made the terrace feel crowded.  Our solution was to propose a symmetrical design that emphasized clean lines, contemporary planters, and stream-lined plantings.  We proposed using tidy looking boxwoods and Japanese snowbell trees, along with Quickfire hydrangeas and white Knockout roses for some flowering interest.  The black fiberglass planters coordinate well with the terrace’s black metal railings and door frames for a very cohesive look, overall.
