West Village Roof Garden Re-Design
This rooftop garden in Manhattan’s West Village was in need of a serious re-design. When we first saw it, it had unattractive green playground tiles covering the deck surface, cheap vinyl fencing, and weeds growing through the cracks between pavers. The new design included ipe (pronounced e-pay) fencing, planters, and pergolas, as well as beautiful custom trellises to grow vines up the side of the building. A comfortable seating area and contemporary dining go a long way in turning this space from neglected to an inviting paradise. Plantings include bamboo, Bloodgood maples, maiden grass, hydrangeas, knockout roses, and a weeping Japanese maple.
