This contemporary Harlem roof deck features comfy outdoor wicker furniture with red cushions that are a perfect complement to red blooming azaleas and knockout roses. The grey fiberglass planters also harmonize nicely with the brown furniture, while still providing a bit of contrast. We kept the great views of the city skyline open with low plantings of variegated willows, alberta spruces, and torulosa junipers. The white bark of the birch tree in the corner also stands out nicely against the tan-colored brick work. This garden also contains pots filled with herbs and strawberries, which the client’s children enjoying picking. All of the planters contain drip irrigation, and up-lighting in the planters provides a dramatic nighttime effect.
